  • Overview

    The Junior Software Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining n-tier applications, providing integrated business-to-business (B2B) solutions to key strategic partners.  The Junior Software Developer will work under the guidance of senior team members while advancing their skill set, performing a variety of tasks from all stages of the software development life cycle.  Must be highly motivated and passionate about building software to solve complex problems. 


    The majority of integration functionalities are made available through a variety of webservices (.NET services, WCF, REST).  The group plans on moving further down that path, by adopting a micro-service architecture.    As a small team, the group works very closely and collaboratively, and is expected to provide input on design and process decisions that affect the group.  Developers are often required to gather specifications and work closely with customers and integrators.  Good communication skills are required.

    Skills utilized in day-to-day work:

    • Object-oriented programming, consistent with SOLID principles. 
    • Heavy SQL use, for both diagnostic/support and reporting.
    • XML creation/consumption, with XSL-T transformations.
    • Communication and requirements gathering.  Ability to effectively document work/processes.

    The integrations group is tasked with the following:

    • Create and maintain external-facing ordering APIs
    • Implement punchout e-commerce integrations
    • Create and deliver electronic business documents (invoice, ship notices, confirmations)
    • Create and maintain datasources for custom labels/reports
    • Accommodate ad-hoc reporting needs of the business group
    • Create web applications to provide support/diagnostic capabilities to non-developers
    • Create and maintain CI builds, using Git/Jenkins



    Essential Functions:

    • Produce functional software to meet customer needs using internally adopted design, development and project management methodologies
    • Communicate closely with customers to determine business requirements
    • Analyze and translate business requirements into functional and technical system requirements
    • Work with customers to develop test plans and user acceptance test cases for quality assurance
    • Perform diagnostic and corrective action in response to software defects
    • Create and maintain documentation of software and system processes
    • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values
    • Perform other duties as assigned



    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education or relevant experience required; B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, MIS, or related IT field preferred.

    Professional Experience:

    • Two years of experience with a .Net language (VB or C#) is preferred.
    • Experience with current relational database products required; experience with MS-SQL server preferred.

    Constant (67%-100% of work day)

    • Sitting: to assume a position in which the weight is largely supported by the buttocks, usually with the body vertical and the thighs horizontal.
    • Using Fingers/Grasping/Feeling: writing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers or palm and perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touch.

    • Lifting: raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
    • Bending: bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist and/or bending leg; bending legs at knee to come to rest or kneel.
    • Pushing/Pulling: using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward/using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
    • Climbing: stairs, stools, ramps, ladders.

    Visual Acuity:

    • Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
