The Software Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining and deploying software systems utilized by the Synthetic Biology department.  This role primarily handles manufacturing processes, and secondarily for internal web applications.


  • Designs, develops and supports functional software to meet customer needs.
  • Adheres to established software design, development, and project management methodologies.
  • Communicates closely with customers to determine and gather business requirements.
  • Analyzes and translates business requirements into functional software systems.
  • Creates and maintains documentation pertaining to software development and projects.
  • Works with database administrators to design relational databases.
  • Works with customers to develop test plans and user acceptance test cases.
  • Monitors and responds to software problems and work to resolve them as quickly as possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education or relevant experience required; B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, MIS, or related IT field preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • Two years of experience with a .Net language, C# preferred.
  • Prior experience with current relational database product and experience with MS-SQL server preferred.
  • Prior web development (ASP.Net, Knockout, Durandal, AngularJS, and Javascript) preferred.
